Walk It Out

Ever wonder what one of the best exercises for weight loss is? Did you assume it has to be running and/or lifting repetitious weights? Well, guess what… it’s neither! In fact, one of the best workouts for losing weight is something you are already doing every day. WALKING!

Walking is a low stress cardio workout that doesn’t stress your joints or intensely strain your body. It gets your heart pumping and the calories burning and is something you can easily do every day, gradually increasing the amount of steps as you go.

Walking, especially daily, is known to increase energy levels, reduce your body weight, improve your heart health and cardiovascular fitness, prevent or manage conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancers, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.

For beginnings who spend much of their day in sedentary positions, simply walking more around the house or parking further in the parking lot is a great first step. For those that already move more in their day, add an evening or a morning neighborhood walk to your routine. Not only is that good for your weight loss but the fresh air and beauty around you will invigorate your senses and get your brain firing for increased mental wellbeing. And, for those that already love a good walk, make your walk a power walk. Keep your intensity high from start to finish with each step and you will not only give your cardiovascular system a good workout but your calories will be burning too!

Walking does the body good! And, if you need a little incentive, treat yourself to a new pair of walking shoes because comfortable feet are happy feet and happy feet take the extra step to getting WELLthy.
